At Spinn, we have the privilege of working with a lot of different people, within various professional capacities. On stage, you can see our awesome dancers, but behind the curtains a whole team of creatives are working together to make that happen – from choreographers and composers, to costume designers and technicians. In this post, we want to focus on such a creator who, besides being a dancer, also works with writing. Among other things she wrote texts to the performance Vinter SpinnOut in December last year. Her name is Ylva Andersson, and we were curious to know a bit more about her!

Hi Ylva, tell us a little about yourself!
I’m a girl from Gothenburg who’s interested in arts and culture. I’m educated in creative writing and is currently working at SFI (Swedish for Immigrants).

What is dance to you?
For me dance is beauty, and total control over the body. Personally it’s an exceptional challenge, since I don’t really have any background in dance.

You work a lot with writing and texts as well, tell us a little about that!
Writing is something I’ve been doing a long time. For me, words is a kind of tool to make the world clearer and more easy to grasp.

And lastly- what would you want to eat on a Friday night?
Since I have a lot of personal assistants from many different countries I really like it when they cook med something native from their homeland.
