Summer is finally here! For some of us, that means swinging in a hammock — for others, it means swinging in the Spinnstudio.
This year’s dance residency at the Spinn studio is hosted by choreographer, educator, and lecturer Mike Gamble. Mike Gamble is a multi-faceted Swedish-based American choreographer, performing artist, educator, and lecturer. Rooted in a diverse movement language shaped by years of experience across West African, Hip-Hop, Vernacular Jazz, House, Latin, Caribbean, and Breaking dance cultures—as well as training in Modern and Modern Jazz techniques. His career spans theater, musical theater, concert dance, and the commercial industry – both on stage and behind the scenes. Beyond the stage, Mike has contributed significantly to the Swedish dance community as an advocate, policymaker, and leader.
His current artistic focus centers on the psycho-social complexities of identity—examining the tension between internal self-perception and external assumptions. This theme forms the basis of a new trilogy he is developing, beginning with a work-in-progress as part of a residency supported by Spinn.
