Soon it’s time for a few weeks of vacation for us here at Spinn. But before we dive into summer reading and itchy mosquito bites, we want to take a moment to look back at the past few months.

What a spring we’ve had! The dance company Spinn has presented their performances and held workshops both internationally and at home. And not to forget—we celebrated our 15th anniversary! We’ve met children and young people both locally and across Sweden with our family performances Svansen and Miramos. In April, we surprised the audience at the Swedish Performing Arts Biennial with our popular SpinnOut. SpinnOut is a dance performance—but it’s also something else. Like a firecracker right in the middle of everyday life.

During the spring, we developed and presented a Relaxed Performance together with the Bohuslän Big Band. A Relaxed Performance is an inclusive and laid-back concert format where everyone is welcome to enjoy the music in their own way—regardless of temperament, age, or functional variation. The concert took place on May 8 at Vara Konserthus. Feel free to check out clips from the performance here. In May, we also began an artistic development process of Spinn’s magical performance Hannah Felicia. This project is a collaboration with Norrbottensteatern and Dans i Västerbotten and has been made possible through funding from the City of Gothenburg.

We wrapped up the spring and kicked off the summer by participating in the popular Danish concept SMK Fridays, which had made its way to Konstmuseet in Gothenburg. On Friday, June 13, the museum and the area outside were filled with a wonderful mix of art, dance, music, conversation, cold refreshments, and handheld food. Naturally, Danskompaniet Spinn was there, brightening the evening with several program segments both outside the museum and among the well-known artworks inside.

A big thanks for all the wonderful encounters this spring—with audiences, organizers, and partners!
We’ll see you in August, ready to create new memories together.
