We’re looking ahead towards an exciting and eventful fall of 2021! The performance Moby Dick is premiering in Rovereto, Italy, and will also be played at Skåne Dansteater. Rehearsals will take place the last two weeks of June with choreographer Chiara Bersani.

The performance Miramos is due at Norweigan Markedet for Scenekunst, plus a visually interpreted version at Världskulturmuseet in Gothenburg. We will do a workshop with circus artist and director Daniel Gulko, and also a lab with the project Spark in Vara. Besides this, we’ll also be part of the inauguration of Örebro Kulturkvarter.

We’re hoping to be able to do the cooperative project Stabat Mater in Högsbo Kyrka, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a study visit from LIVE in Helsinki. A few alterations to these plans may be expected, but nonetheless it will definitely be a fall to look forward to!

Summer has finally arrived, and with it we look back on an eventful and exciting spring. A spring that, despite the ongoing restrictions, has been filled with performances, rehearsals and workshops. Hannah Felicia performed both at Vara Konserthus and at Salto! showcase. Miramos spent four days in Stockholm with Dans i Stan. And Moby Dick has recently finished a successful semi-digital residence at Vara Konserthus.

We’ve done several workshops with Klot & Klimat in Härryda, and also several with the theme garbage. We’ve participated in the international Dance Day and been part of conferences and seminars, discussing availability issues.

With all of this behind us we look forward to a lovely summer, filled with equal parts rest and activity – because at Spinnstudion we will be hosting an exciting summer residence, stay tuned for more info!

Throughout the week, Spinn is having a residence at Vara Konserthus with the performance Moby Dick. We got an update on how things are going from one of the dancers, Annika Vestel.

“It’s going great, we’re working away! It’s a peculiar situation in many ways – we started working with this production about two years ago, and now we meet again but with the choreographer on Zoom. But it’s an incredibly exciting process! And especially to be able to meet and work together like this in a group. We’re a super great team, with a lot of joy and laughs. Vara Konserthus is providing lunch, and these last two days we’ve been barbequing out in the sun, such a luxury!”

Annika Vestel has been working with Spinn on and off for a couple of years now. Besides Moby Dick, she’s also part of the performance Miramos. Annika was born and raised in the small town of Langhus outside of Oslo, Norway. She’s been living in Sweden for the past ten years. She has a degree in physical theatre, and is working partly with that and partly as a dancer.

“I think the most central thing for me, when it comes to being a performer, is presence. A kind of micro-sensitivity throughout the body. That’s probably the best thing! And the creative work, and being creative together with others.”

Moby Dick is choreographed by Italian Chiara Bersani, and premieres on September 5 at Oriente Occidente Dance Festival in Rovereto, Italy. Participating dancers are Hannah Karlsson, Felicia Sparrström, Annika Vestel and Britta Kangas.
