A Warm Thank You and Best of Luck, Hannah! After ten years with Spinn, it is now time for our colleague and dancer Hannah Karlsson to take the next step in her artistic journey. Many of us have been deeply moved by Hannah’s strong presence on both national and international stages. With great commitment and dedication, she has danced for and with children and adults in many different Spinn productions and projects over the past decade.

Hannah became part of Spinn in 2015, when she began working on a project basis in various productions and projects. Since 2021, she has been permanently employed by Spinn. Over the years, there have been many journeys, encounters and new contexts – and, above all, many opportunities to explore what dance and artistic movement can be.

When asked what she has appreciated most about working with Spinn, Hannah highlights the spaces and contexts that her work has opened up to her:

“My understanding of what dance and artistic movement can be has been affirmed through the spaces I have been able to inhabit as part of Spinn. Through my work, I have encountered people and artistic contexts that, with both curiosity and necessity, question and dismantle norms within the performing arts.”

These are experiences that Hannah now takes with her into a new and exciting chapter. She is moving to Stockholm, where she will begin the Master’s Programme in Choreography at Stockholm University of the Arts.

“I want to figure out more about my own art,” Hannah says.

She is looking forward to spending two years focusing on her own choreographic practice – a practice that has long existed alongside her work as a dancer at Spinn and in other projects.

All of us at Spinn wish Hannah the very best of luck with her studies and everything that lies ahead. We will follow her continuing journey in dance and the arts with great interest.

Stockholm awaits – but as Hannah herself says:

“I will always have one paw in Gothenburg!”

And, of course, we hope that paw finds its way back to us often.
