Spinn – Stabat Mater

The project Spinn – Stabat Mater is a collaboration between Högsbo parish and Danskompaniet Spinn.

Stabat Mater is a text from the 13th century. The text addressed to Jesus’ mother Mary, depicting her suffering during his crucifixion. Throughout the years, Stabat Mater has been set to music by a large number of composers. This project uses Arvo Pärts interpretation.

Pärt’s music and the text Stabat Mater demands something from its listener. But through dance, several doors are opened. Together we explore the room, the music and movements using the text as our starting point. The participants are dancers from Spinn and a mix of musicians and singers from the Högsbo parish and freelancers, lead by Katarina Solén Hiller.

During spring you have the opportunity to take part in the dance, text and music – feel its amazing force, comfort and presence during a number of occasions. The project results in a unique dance and music performance on Sunday April 3rd at the Högsbo church.
