On Thursday, May 8th, it’s time for a Relaxed Performance with the Danskompaniet Spinn and Bohuslän Big Band.

A Relaxed Performance is an inclusive and relaxed concert format where everyone is welcome to enjoy the concert in their own way – regardless of temperament, age, or ability.

On stage, you’ll see the big band Bohuslän Big Band and dancers from Spinn. Spinns artistic director, Veera Suvalo Grimberg, will guide the audience through the concert and share information about the musical pieces between the performances.

The concert is themed around the forest. With the help of projected patterns of leaves and trees, the stage is transformed into a living forest. Bohuslän Big Band will perform swinging, warm, and powerful big band music, including compositions by the big band legend Duke Ellington. Through the dancers’ movements, the music comes to life. They move freely – hiding, exploding into movement, and interacting with the music. Using flashlights, the dancers also create exciting light patterns that enhance the mysterious atmosphere of the forest.

Forest Fika and Exhibition Before the Concert

Before the concert begins, a forest-themed fika will be served in the foyer, with hot chocolate and sandwiches – included in the ticket price. Vara Folkhögskola will also present an exhibition about the forest in the foyer.

Duration: Forest snack and exhibition: 30 min. The concert “The Forest” lasts 50 min.

Wheelchair Spaces

Special wheelchair spaces are available in all of our venues. These spaces can be booked through Guest and Ticket Service at +46 512-315 00. Vara Concert Hall ushers will then guide you to your seat. Assistants are free of charge but must also book their seat.

Sight and Sign Language Interpretation

The concert can be interpreted for both sight and sign language, and bookings can be made through Guest and Ticket Service at +46 512-315 00, no later than April 30th.
