Danskompaniet Spinn and Candoco Dance Company present Lab Sweden – a five day long artistic lab for for disabled and non-disabled artists.

During Lab Sweden, August 23rd to 27th, performers from six countries come together to work at Världskulturmuseet in Gothenburg, Sweden. The lab is hoasted by Danskompaniet Spinn and Candoco Dance Company from the UK and lead by Renny O’Shea and Richard Gregory – artistic directors of the Manchester based performing arts company Quarantine. The lab revolves around the artistic practices of Quarantine where, using an empathic research process, the participants own experiences are at the core of the process. It’s both an exploratory artistic process and a processing of the outside world.

During the week, visitors of the museum can take part of what’s going on in the groups participating in the lab. The artistic work will take place throughout the entire museum in the form of spontaneous rehearsals, short pop-up performances or open discussions when you least expect it. Just about anything can and will happen. Since the lab to a large extent is about relating to the outside world, the groups will also be visible in other locations in the city adjacent to the museum. Lab Sweden is presented in collaboration between Danskompaniet Spinn, Candoco Dance Company, Quarantine, Göteborgs dans- och teaterfestival, Världskulturmuseet and Kultur i Väst.
