Welcome to Denna sida upp – a performance about the Swedish benevolence.

Using her own experiences as the starting point, and with the gripper at hand, Emilia tells a story about the Swedish model that’s both abstract and absurd. Denna sida upp is a performance where function becomes form, where the Aid Central’s everyday selection is elevated, shifted, and transformed into something dreamy, headstrong, and beautiful. All of it to the rhythmic and playful music of musician and composer Anna Gustavsson.

Talk with researcher Frida Lygnegård

On December 8, there will be a talk after the performance with researcher Frida Lygnegård and Emilia. A conversation about why it is important to have a performance like this, about considering aids from an aesthetic perspective, about the conditions for play that the aids create, who creates them and how it stands in relation to what one would like to be able to do, with the help of their aids. And about singing the wheelchair’s praises.

How can you think outside the box when the assistive technology industry is so governed by rules, procurement and assortment? What does the person who uses aids really have for needs, both physical and mental.

Frida Lygnegård is a licensed occupational therapist with a doctorate in disability science and a master’s degree in public health science. Frida’s main areas of interest in terms of teaching and research relate to the health of children and young people, global health and children’s rights.

 The talk starts at 3 pm and lasts about 1 hour.
