Tillgängliggöra Dans

Tillgängliggöra Dans (Make Dance Accessible) is a collaborative project between GGM Film and Danskompaniet Spinn, where Virtual Reality is explored as a medium for making dance accessible for a wider group of people.

The project revolves around a practical approach towards digitalizing dance, making it more accessible for an audience that for various reasons aren’t able or willing to be at the actual physical venue. A way of letting Spinn’s performances meet an audience where they are, on their terms.

The core of what Spinn does is the art of dance. But for us it’s about constantly being curious about other’s artistry and new artistic expressions. For quite some time now we have played around with the idea of incorporating other aspect of visual art into what we do. Anything from film to projections. But always with the conviction that, if we are doing this, it needs to be done with an artistic fingerspitzengefühl in every aspect. VR (Virtual Reality) is something completely new and unexplored to us. What are the artistic possibilities that we are yet to see? And can this medium create an even larger deree of accessibility in what we do?

Our first workshop took place at Visual Arena, Lindholmen Science Center in Gothenburg on January 21. During spring we will work alongside GGM Film in ortder to secure funding for a continuation of the project.
